still havn't figured it out, but it seems like hud_saytext_internal is the culprit. i think it was peter saying earlier that one of the server addons had a bug causing the no text (changing hud_saytext_internal to 0 for some reason, maybe no backup plan GOOD PROGRAMMING). just had the problem and found this command set to 0, changed it to 1 and fixed instantly.

I seemed to have had this problem before too
I added the 2 commands in my config:
hud_saytext 1
hud_saytext_internal 1

if it happens that i can't see the chat, I would exec my cfg again... If that doesn't work, then restarting CS would definitely make it go away

download a file called cstrike_english.txt from google and replace it... ro resource thats the best way to fix it.. if u cant see it by doing hud_saytext 1...

I learned that having text on decreases your FPS by a certain amount depending on your graphic card's wires. The mathematics range from 1-10!
