Introduction
Valve uses old OpenGL driver with every goldsrc engined game, what makes you having horrible fps.
There are simple way to fix this problem and have 100 fps.
Welcome to this tutorial!
1. Step:
Your graphics card.
If you know what is your graphics card, move to 2. step.
First, you need to know, what is your graphics card.
Press "Start"
Click "run..."
Type "dxdiag" in box and press enter or click "ok".
Now click "Display" tab
Now you can see what is your graphics card. As you can see from pic, i have ATI card (yeah, this pc sucks its my old one).
Now move to 2. step.
2. Step:
Finding your OpenGL driver.
Read this part carefully
Now you need to find your OpenGL driver, what your graphics card uses.
ATI cards: atioglxx.
Nvidia + other cards: opengl32.dll
These files are on your "Windows/system32" folder.
If you are too afraid to find it or you are just lazy, use search to locate your OpenGL driver
When you find file, copy it...
DO NOT CUT IT! NEVER! YOU MIGHT SCREW UP YOUR COMPUTER!
...and paste it to your desktop.
After doing this move to 3. step.
3. step:
Making Counter-Strike use your graphic card's OpenGL driver
Locate your Counter-Strike folder.
Default is: "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\yourusername\Counter-strike"
Open Counter-Strike folder and open "gldrv" folder.
Move your OpenGL driver from your desktop to gldrv folder
After moving open "drvmap.txt" If you have Nvidia or other graphics card, change code to this and save.
If you have ATI, change code to this and save.
After doing This, move to 4. step.
4. Step: Done and final words.
Now, you should have better fps on Counter-Strike. Be sure to use fps_max 100 to get best fps possible.
This trick works with other goldsrc engined games (Half-life, Team Fortress Classic etc). Happy fragging.
