so i have both these  cards,  both are 1Gb, i just what to know how big of a difference is between them

The 9600 is better. Just from looking at the spec pages, the 9600 has 30MHz more core speed than the 9400. I know that's not a lot, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference in the two cards. Also... I know it's not a good benchmark, but the 9600 is almost twice as much as the 9400....
