i have problems with my fps while playing cs. it drops down randomly out of nowhere. it drops to like 60-70. i know its not bad but still, it causes me lag which i dunt like.i have tried everything, no viruses or spyware, reinstalling cs and i even reformatted my comp, still have that problems. sometimes i have this occuring, a 3-5 sec lag, which causes everything in the game to stop for that period of time on my screen. even when im shooting, if that happens, its like im not moving at all. so if anyone can give me a head up on my issue, that wud be alot of help  . |

maybe u should try to turn vsync off from ur graphic card panel control settings.

You were telling me about this before, I think it might be your internet connection.
Make sure its secure/has a password.
Do you have a graphics card? Or is it integrated onto your mother board?
If you think that your graphics card is the problem, you can probably get a card for $50-100.

yeah my vsync is off. i have a ati radeon vid card. i think imma just open up my laptop and see if theres hecka dust inside and just clean it out.

sounds like cpu overheating or internet problems. gfx cards are usually able to still load some frames within that time when things are overloaded... especially on an old game like cs. do you get it in any other games? it'd be better to try something that doesn't run off steam. i would first try dusting your cpu heatsink (don't take it off unless you have thermal paste). a vacuum is usually able to suck out most of the dust (with the computer off o' course lawl). if you still have problems, i would blame the internet provider. calling them could possibly help, but usually not... they're greedy & lazy assholes. if you know someone close in your area that has the same internet provider and plays games ask them and see if they have the same lag problems. there was a point where me & 3 of my friends in my town with the same internet provider couldn't play anything cause our internet was soooooo bad; a new management eventually took over which fixed everything. another thing to look for is whatever else is using your internet bandwidth. when my roommate plays online games with his xbox 360, i usually get lag on my computer games. but since your lag sounds so consistent, it would have to be something that's running all the time like a program on your computer or another computer. gl hf... |

i have a cooling fan so it cools down the overheating. imma try to clean up the dust inside my cpu tonight and see if thats the problem. if not, ill do what you said brent. thnx :]
