My pc is pretty decent. Its a semi-new one but I'm looking to buy something better so my friend helped me look at kits and stuff (never build a pc ) I am also looking for something good but cheap (video card of this one doesn't really matter THAT much seeing I could replace it in the future)

I dont know much in computers and this would come up to around 300/350 $ plus shipping and handling if I'm not correct so please check it out and see if I'm missing anything.

My friend recommended all these and said it would run pretty decently, Not crysis amazing but i could run source around 150 fps.

( I will also replace my graphics card with 6400 GT or something better later o-o?)

I would be using it for HL1 and Hl2 games but, I dunno I'll get into that..


(BTW I had XP for 5 years on this pc I'm using right now it has 4 GB of ram and like 80 GB of space which is small and I'm not upgrading it cuz the computer is getting old)

the specs you listed will most definitly run HL2 engine based games, BUT...


you need a videocard. save up at least 100$ and drop it on that.





or, sell your current rig, use the money to get a new card. i cant stress how important GPU's are for gamers. even if you have a 2.0ghz dualcore and only 1gb of ram, with the proper operating system you can still pay many of the high end games IF you have a bomb GPU...


if you want help finding a card, i can help you look, or peter can, we are pretty much on the same level when it comes to hardware

lol back on topic, i would not recommend running anything other than XP for gaming.


the reason being, XP has been around longest, it is definitely more stable than vista or 7, honestly vista is a joke imo i would never ruin a computer by loading it on.



the new wave of operating systems from microsoft are terribly written, they suck memory like no other.

the term "Computer Science" came from the science of getting applications to run with only a certain amount of memory. developers used to have to worry about how much memory a computer has, but it seems like now nobody cares because you can just upgrade to 32 GB and you'll be fine. imo thats bullshit. ill stick with my 128mb XP.

I'm not into gaming THAT much anymore so yeah i needed something cheap. I probably would get that rig and then get a decent video card for something around 80-100$ or a used one for cheaper :O
